Xiaomi Unveils Watch 5 With Exceptional Battery Life, Challenging Huawei’s Smartwatch Dominance

Xiaomi has officially announced the Xiaomi Watch 5, a new smartwatch that brings competitive features aimed at rivaling Huawei and other leading smartwatch brands—most notably in battery life.
The Xiaomi Watch 5 is designed to last more than two weeks on a single charge, even with continuous daily use of its advanced features, placing it firmly among the longest-lasting smartwatches currently available.
Battery Life: Xiaomi Enters Huawei’s Territory
When it comes to smartwatch battery performance, Huawei has long been the industry benchmark. Its latest Watch GT 6 series reportedly offers up to 21 days of battery life, according to multiple reports.
While Apple and Samsung continue to work on extending battery life beyond a single day, Xiaomi appears to have found an effective solution with its latest wearable.
The Xiaomi Watch 5 is equipped with a 930mAh battery, made with 10% silicon content, which significantly enhances energy efficiency. Under normal daily usage in a connected network environment—with all features enabled—the battery can last up to six days.
When power-saving mode is activated, battery life extends to 18 days, just three days short of Huawei’s Watch GT 6. This positions the Xiaomi Watch 5 as a serious competitor to Huawei’s current and future smartwatch offerings in terms of endurance.
World-First EMG Technology
Beyond battery performance, the Xiaomi Watch 5 introduces a major technological milestone. It is the world’s first smartwatch to support EMG (electromyography) technology.
The built-in EMG sensor detects electrical signals generated by muscles, allowing the device to analyze muscle strain and activity. This enables more advanced insights into physical performance, training efficiency, and recovery, making the Watch 5 particularly appealing to fitness enthusiasts and professional athletes.
