Samsung Introduces Long-Awaited Smart Enhancements with One UI 8.5

Samsung is preparing to roll out its One UI 8.5 update, bringing a set of features that users have been waiting for for quite some time. While these additions may not be groundbreaking, they clearly highlight the direction Samsung is taking—focusing on refining daily usability and offering deeper customization.

According to a report by SamMobile, reviewed by Al Arabiya Business, the upcoming One UI 8.5 update introduces four key features that are expected to significantly improve the overall user experience.

Fully Customizable Quick Panel

One of the most impactful changes is the redesign of the Quick Panel. Users will be able to freely add or remove toggles, resize buttons, and even adjust the orientation of brightness and volume sliders.

More importantly, users can remove features they don’t need—such as Modes, Nearby Devices, and Smart View—making room for controls they use more frequently. This level of customization directly responds to long-standing user requests and allows for a more personalized interface.

Built-in Time Zone Converter

As work environments increasingly span multiple time zones, Samsung is introducing a built-in time zone converter within the default Clock app.

Although it may seem like a minor addition, it addresses a real-world need and eliminates the reliance on third-party apps or Google searches for time conversions.

Smart Calculator Nudges

The update also introduces Calculator Nudges, a feature that automatically suggests recently copied numbers when opening the Calculator app.

This smart shortcut minimizes app switching and saves time, particularly for users who frequently perform quick calculations.

Partial Screen Recording

With One UI 8.5, Samsung adds Partial Screen Recording, allowing users to record only a selected portion of the screen instead of the entire display.

This feature is especially useful for content creators and everyday users alike, reducing the need for post-recording edits and saving valuable time.
