Egyptian Cheese Festival Kicks Off Its Fifth Edition with Food Technology Research Institute Participation

Misr Mubasher – October 30, 2025

Cairo has launched the fifth edition of the Egyptian Cheese Festival at Al Horreya Park in Zamalek, under the slogan “Just Natural Milk.”
The event features wide participation from research institutions, universities, and local producers, led by the Food Technology Research Institute of the Agricultural Research Center.

Running from October 30 to November 2, the festival is considered the largest cheese and dairy event in the Middle East, organized under the auspices of Cairo Governorate, in cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation, the Egyptian Dairy Producers and Exporters Association, the Food Industries Union, and the Dairy Division of the Damietta Chamber of Commerce.

An Annual Platform to Support Egypt’s Dairy Industry

The festival aims to boost Egypt’s dairy sector, improve product quality to meet international standards, and expand export opportunities for local producers. It also seeks to raise consumer awareness about the importance of natural milk and safe, healthy dairy products.

Scientific Contribution from the Food Technology Research Institute

This year, the Food Technology Research Institute delivered scientific lectures and hands-on workshops presented by experts and professors, showcasing the latest research in cheese production technologies, quality improvement, and food safety.

Topics included:
• The Nutritional Value of White Cheese
• Production of Aged Cheeses and Dairy-Based Desserts
• Enhancing Cheese Ripening through Modern Techniques
• Using Salt and Natural Enzymes in Cheese Processing

Dr. El-Sayed Sherif, the Institute’s Director, emphasized that the participation reflects Egypt’s ongoing efforts to link scientific research with industry and to support local producers with practical solutions that enhance productivity and competitiveness.

Public Engagement and Educational Outreach

The festival attracted a large audience of Egyptian families, featuring booths of locally produced cheeses, tasting competitions, and nutrition awareness activities.
Organizers stressed that the event goes beyond commerce — it’s a public awareness initiative promoting safe and sustainable dairy production practices among small and medium producers.
