SITFY Names 11th Edition After Theatre Icon Soheir El-Morshidy in Major Tribute

The management of the Sharm El Sheikh International Theatre Festival for Youth (SITFY), chaired by Director Mazen El-Gharabawy, announced that its eleventh edition, scheduled for November 2026, will be named in honour of the celebrated star, Soheir El-Morshidy.
The decision was revealed during the closing ceremony of the tenth edition, in a high-profile event attended by the Minister of Culture, Dr. Ahmed Fouad Hanno, the Minister of Youth and Sports, Dr. Ashraf Sobhi, and the Governor of South Sinai, Major General Dr. Khaled Mubarak.
A Tribute to Decades of Creative Work:
Mazen El-Gharabawy, the founder and president of SITFY, emphasized that the selection is a tribute to El-Morshidy’s decades-long career and her extensive contributions to the Egyptian and Arab theatrical movement. He noted that her timeless stage performances cemented her status as one of Egypt’s most prominent theatre stars, and that naming the edition after her reflects the festival’s commitment to honouring figures who have positively influenced younger generations.
Comprehensive State Sponsorship:
The festival is held under the comprehensive patronage of the Egyptian State, including the Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, and the Egyptian Tourism Promotion Authority. This widespread support underscores the government’s commitment to cultural events that showcase Egypt’s civilizational image and boost its position on the global tourism map, ensuring the integration of cultural and touristic objectives for sustainable development.
SITFY also enjoys strong support from the South Sinai Governorate and features golden sponsors, including the National Bank of Egypt, Ain Production, and the Dhofar Municipality in the Sultanate of Oman. The festival’s Higher Committee is chaired by Producer Hisham Soliman, with Dr. Engy El-Bestawy serving as the Managing Director.
